Two days ago, Henry County police began searching the heavily wooded area surrounding the home of Alexander D. Holt, suspected kidnapper and murderer of five Georgia women. They were looking for evidence of a large, dangerous animal that they believe Holt had in his possession... possibly as an exotic pet of some kind. Late last night, Henry County police found that evidence.

"Last night we discovered the remains of a campsite about six miles west of the Holt residence," said Sheriff Robert Cook. "There were two tents, each capable of holding two to four people. The tents were demolished in way consistent with an animal attack. We found large amounts of blood on the scene, but no human or animal remains. We believe the blood to be human. We are still searching the woods at this time."

Cook went on to say that police hope to identify the campers using the blood-soaked belongings which were left behind at the site.

This latest announcement comes after more than a week of shocking revelations in this small, Henry County community.

Six days ago, relatives of local resident Bonnie Hand reported her missing after they found an open door and a pool of blood at her home. The following day, Alexander Holt was arrested on suspicion of murder and kidnapping. Police found the dismembered and cannibalized remains of Bonnie Hand in Holt's basement, along with items belonging to Angela Stilton, Saretta Lewis, Jamie Anderson, and Henrietta Bolsom. Each woman had been reported missing in Macon, Ga. earlier this year. Holt killed himself while in police custody, leaving authorities and neighbors with nothing but questions and an grizzly crime scene. Two nights ago that scene was disturbed by a large animal that destroyed several rooms before breaking out a window and escaping into the woods. Police had speculated that the elderly Holt may have had an accomplice to the kidnappings, but now it appears that that accomplice may not be human, and may still be at large.
