Reporters and police awakened this morning to the sounds of a military convoy rolling into his small, rural county.

One armored personnel carrier, several jeeps, and at least five large vehicles carrying military equipment pulled into town and set up a base of operations outside the former residence of Alexander Holt. Police kept reporters back, but even from a distance it was obvious that, whoever these reinforcements represented, they came ready for war. But war against what? Several .50 caliber rifles... guns capable of piercing tank armor... were clearly identifiable. As were several grenade launchers and one flame-thrower.

Shortly before the soldier's arrival, two military helicopters began circling the wooded area. Stopping only to refuel, the copters stayed overhead for the remainder of the day, and could be heard well into the night.

The men, each wearing green military camouflage, did not speak with reporters or local police as they erected temporary structures and removed strange, unidentified crates. The crates were quickly taken out of site... some of them were taken inside the abandoned Holt residence. Neither the vehicles, the crates, nor the soldiers bore any kind of ensignia identifying their division, or even what branch of the military they represented.

Stranger still was the appearance of an older civilian man whom soldiers quickly escorted into the Holt Residence. Visible only for a few seconds, the anomalous he appeared to be in his mid sixties... far too old to be part of any official military operation, except as perhaps a special advisor. Reporters who took pictures of his man had their cameras confiscated. Many protested, and the military promptly ordered the police to move the press out of site of the mysterious operation. Left with nothing to see, reporters sat and talked amongst themselves as they waited for word from the authorities. None came. It became obvious that Robert Cook and the rest of the local authorities were as much in the dark as everyone else. Police were overheard questioning each other about things they had seen after the reporters were removed... exotic weapons, scientific equipment, and a team of armed men wearing full biological containment suits entering the woods just minutes after reporters were moved out of site. Officers refused to discuss anything with reporters, although they were clearly concerned.

Sheriff Robert Cook declined to make any comment.

Just who are these new arrivals? They are clearly prepared to do battle... but with what? With no statements or explanations being made, all we can do is wait to see who makes the next move... the mysterious reinforcements called in by Sheriff Cook, or the Henry County Horror.
