An open door and a large splatter of blood were all that could be found today in the home of a local Henry county woman.
Bonnie Hand, 57, was reported missing this morning after failing to attend a long-awaited family reunion which she had helped organize. Worried family members drove to the Hand residence where they found the back door wide open, and a pool of fresh blood on the porch.
There was no blood or any signs of a disturbance inside the house. The television was on, jewelry and other valuables were left in plain sight. A widower, Bonnie Hand lived alone, with only her dog CoCo to keep her company. CoCo, a brown miniature poodle, is also missing.
Although foul play is suspected, police were quick dismiss reports that this case is related to the disappearance of four women in Macon, some 120 miles away.
"Besides the distance involved," said Sheriff Robert Cook, "which is well over 120 miles, The large amount of blood is a marked deviation from the other cases. It indicates that there was some kind of struggle outside of the house, possibly involving a knife or other weapon. No evidence of any such weapons or struggle was found in the Macon cases."
Still, residents of Henry county are worried that the man that police have dubbed the Macon Stalker has relocated to his quiet suburb of Atlanta.
