It’s been a while since my latest update here, but I have been, if not “active” then at least “present” on my Facebook page. I know some of you don’t do Facebook, and that’s fine, but I can interact and respond there much more often than I do here. So, if you want to interact with me then Facebook is the way to do it. If you just want to know what I’m working on and when I might publish something new, then my mailing list and this website are good ways to accomplish that. The mailing list is the better of those two options. For example, my list got notice of the short story I published a few weeks ago and got the opportunity to get it for free. If you were JUST watching this website, then you have no idea what I’m talking about.

Likewise, subscribers also got clued in about the current direction I’m going with my work. For the next few months (likely the rest of the year) I will focus on publishing shorter works more often. When I look at my Amazon library, I see a good selection of books, but there are two problems with it:

1. I don’t have enough books considering I’ve been doing this for two years, and
2. It’s all horror stories, when long-term fans mostly know me from other genres; specifically, fantasy.

I need to correct both of those things.

However, given the constraints of time and energy I must work within, cranking out a novel or novel-length anthology every three or four months is not sustainable. Not yet. Short stories and the occasional novella are the most I can do until I rebuild my writing-muscles from the long years of disuse. So my short term plan is to publish one piece of short fiction a month. The first few will be in the horror genre, but after that I intend to branch out into science fiction and fantasy. Besides getting my writing back up to speed, these stories will serve as introductions to worlds, characters, and storylines I may explore with longer works if they are well-received.

The first of these is a short story called “Eatonville” that I expect to publish next week… or possibly this weekend. The initial publication announcement will go to my mailing list, with some additional marketing afterward. If horror isn’t your thing; I’ve got some sci-fi coming up in a couple of months, so stay tuned.
